如果所採取的行動是
"一致的"，亦即只有
"一個行動"、"一個希望
"或類似
"一"
的含義，則是指團體，屬於單數，做主詞時用單數動詞，以其為先行詞的人稱代名詞用
it，關係代名詞用
which。 |

若是各做各的動作或各有各的主意等等類似的情形，則是指組成分子，屬於
複數，做主詞時用複數動詞，人稱代名詞用 they,關係代名詞用who。舉例如下：

the team 應指其中的成員，屬複數，所以代名詞該用複數的

或談及 "大小"，
都是指團體，屬單數，與其有關的動詞、代名詞都該依照上述
"1" 項的原則。

(不可用who)，其人稱代名詞用
it (不可用

只有指團體才可能說是大小或人數多寡。比方說這個班級
(class) 很大或人數很多。由此可知，本例中的
audience 是指整個聽眾合在一起的這個群體，屬單數，所以其代名詞該用
it (不可用they)。 |
